foster mom update - 01/06/07
Minnie loves to play. She loves to take a toy and toss it in front of her and then chase it. She makes funny little grunty whiney noises while she does it. She also loves playing tug of war with her foster sister and chasing after other dogs at the dog park. She is a huge fan of the couch and will need to be adopted into a home that will allow her to laze on the couch when she wants.
Minnie is very good about adapting her play style to the dog that she is playing with. She has played with little puppies on up to older adults and seems to be excellent at figuring out their play styles.
Minnie is great with cats. She will chase if they run but if she catches up to them the game is over and she doesn't really know what to do so she just walks away. She gives gentle kisses and nudges to our lazy bones cat on the couch.
Minnie likes to take breaks from playing. She will play really hard and then come over to snuggle with her human. She likes to sleep on the couch and I think she'll be a very calm adult dog based on her puppy activity level.
She knows sit and down, off and leave it. She is great on a leash and loves going for walks. She will start formal obedience training this month and we think she'll do well.
Minnie is an amazing dog. When she first came into rescue she had practically no hair due to the immune deficiency that causes demodectic mange. She was bounced to 2 fosters and a hospital before landing in my home where she adapted immediately. She is very good about the multiple baths that she has to take to try to stave off infection in her sores. She cannot stand the medication that she is having to take but I know that both are doing her a lot of good as she's starting to blossom into a furry little puppy. Her fur is growing in chocolate with little flecks of gold. She has a white chest and the tiniest of white tips on her paws and tail. She loves to be in the same room as the humans and will follow me around as I clean house and plop down in each room. When playing with her canine sister and feline brother, she will take breaks to check in and then go back to playing. While she had a little food aggression when she first moved in (probably due to having had to fend for herself on the streets), she now realizes that there is plenty for everyone. She is easy to correct as she is super eager to please and I think she will excel in obedience classes.
