Sage (aka Mama)

When I'm with my human family I cuddle cuddle cuddle. I love to take naps with my foster mom. I also love to lick her face and hands. I'm a lick machine!

I love to play with my kong, rawhides, hooves, and sometime ropes.

I make my family laugh when I try to steal the milk bottles from my pups. I'm just a kid too!

My favorite game with my canine friends is chase. I'm great nose to nose with other dogs, and when off leash, I have no problem telling them to chill out if they're being too much for me. I was very tolerant of other dogs around my puppies, and I speak fluent doggish.

I've met kids as young as 10 and I did well with them. I jump up a little if i'm not getting the attention that I want, but my foster parent and I are working on that.

Other types of animals I've met include cats. I walk right by them sometimes and sniff then walk away, while other times I get way overexcited and bark and chase. I do this especially when the cats are up high staring at me. I don't mind them when they're on the ground, but I woudl do best in a cat-free home.

In case youre wondering, I do ask to go out when I gotta go., I do very well in a crate.

People tell me that Im more adoptable if I know things. Here are the commands that Ive already learned - Sit, Shake, come. I'm working on more, but raising my puppies has kept me pretty busy!

My foster family knows me pretty well and they think the perfect family for me would be one that wants a all-the-time companion. I'm a total velcro girl and I just love being around people. My foster parents said I was a mediocre mommy becuase I would much rather be with them or my canine foster sister than my boring little babies. I would do great in a multi-dog household, or being the lone apple of your eye.

Geez - I almost forgot to tell you that I was brought into he shelter as a pregnant stray and had my puppies there. I was real sick with a skin infection, but I made sure my puppies got all the warmth and food they needed. I went into foster care after a week of raising my babies in the cold stinky shelter, and I proved to be even cuter than the puppies. I love my foster parents and have been very gracious about letting them handle me and my pups. I also let them take treats and chews out of my mouth, and poke and prod me all they need to to make sure I'm healthy. My foster parents say I'm tolerant and kind, and a happy-go-lucky amazing girl ready to start her own life when the pups are all grown up, which will be mid-May.

Please note that Pit Bull Rescue San Diego does not adopt on a first come first served basis. Generally we have formed an opinion about the sort of home that we want for each of the dogs in our program. This opinon is formed from knowing each dog and observing their interactions in various situations and through periodic evaluations. Our goal is to place our charges in the home that is the best possible for that particular dog. Our only goal is happiness and forever homes for our dogs. A forever home is most likely to happen when we do the best we can to find lifestyles and personalities that match.

We are aware that this is a human process and that you may or may not agree with our decisions. Please understand that we take very seriously the lives placed in our hands for this brief time and our decisions are only made out of protectiveness for the breed and the specific dogs we are placing and not out of any judgment of you or your life.
