Nova (aka Novalee)
See Her TV Debut!foster update 02.21.07:
Nova believes that she is a lap dog. She is very eager to please, and loves being petted. She loves tummy rubs! We've noticed that she can be timid at first. However, a rousing game of fetch is one of her joys. As do most pitties, she participates fully in a good game of tug of war. She is a bit of a pussy cat though and would do well in a calmer home.
After she gets used to your presence, she is great, but it takes her a few minutes to get to know people. After she is around people for a little bit, she starts trying to crawl on laps and get pet.
She is mostly good with children. If a child is scared, she gets very afraid of them. Kids that are used to dogs, or who are not afraid of her she is great with. If she senses fear, she becomes very timid and just tries to avoid them.
At home, Nova loves to follow Mia (her foster canine sister) around, play tug of war, and share her treats. She also LOVES to snuggle. Any chance she gets she snuggles up to Mia and always tries to fall asleep touching her.
When at the dog park, she likes to chase and be chased. She also likes playing tug-of-war and chasing balls.
Nova is a person dog. She loves to follow her mom (me) around the house, loves to lay on the bed and snuggle and she loves to have contact. If you move your hand, she will move closer so that you are always touching her. She is great with her food and has no agression. She even shares her treats. She likes to lay on your lap and get belly rubs until she falls asleep.
She is a petite little girl with the most infectious puppy smile. She is not a big licker to people, but loves to lick the faces of all of her doggie friends. She runs around the house squeeking her ball waiting for someone to throw it for her, but can throw the ball and play fetch by herself.
When she gets really excited her tail waggs so hard that it waggs her whole body. And if she is REALLY happy, she is a vocal little girl. Like she is trying to talk to you and tell you all her thoughts for the day and it really makes us laugh. She rarely barks, but she sure loves to talk.
She goes great into her kennel when it is bed time and does not fuss at all during the night. She will then wait patiently for you to let her out to go potty in the morning. Although the pictures DO NOT do her justice, she is a precious and adorable little girl with so much personality that you can not help but fall in love with her.
intake notes:Nova is an active outgoing and very curious little girl. She is very energetic and playful and is always seeking human affection. Her confident personality allows her to play with the largest of dogs. Her tail is always wagging and she loves to chase and play with her older foster sister. She is the first to wake in the morning and the last to fall asleep at night. She is crate trained.

Please note that Pit Bull Rescue San Diego does not adopt on a first come first served basis. Generally we have formed an opinion about the sort of home that we want for each of the dogs in our program. This opinon is formed from knowing each dog and observing their interactions in various situations and through periodic evaluations. Our goal is to place our charges in the home that is the best possible for that particular dog. Our only goal is happiness and forever homes for our dogs. A forever home is most likely to happen when we do the best we can to find lifestyles and personalities that match.
We are aware that this is a human process and that you may or may not agree with our decisions. Please understand that we take very seriously the lives placed in our hands for this brief time and our decisions are only made out of protectiveness for the breed and the specific dogs we are placing and not out of any judgment of you or your life.
