Charles

Charles spent months at a local shelter because his owner never came looking for him. We can't figure out why, because this handsome older gentleman has a great, easy-going personality and was obviously someone's pet. With no luck at getting adopted from the shelter, off he went to a PBRSD foster home where he instantly settled in like he'd lived there all his life.

Like we said, Charles is a laid-back, friendly boy who enjoys going for walks and meeting new friends. He's good with other friendly dogs, and doesn't even mind sharing his home with kitties. He was definitely someone's indoor family companion, because he hates to be left outside and wants nothing but to be with his people. He will happily snuggle up with you at night in bed, or chill out with you on the couch when you're watching tv. He's housetrained, knows basic commands and is way past all of the naughty puppy stuff. He rides shotgun in the car with you like a pro and will take treats oh, so gently from your hand. As a general rule of thumb, since he's older he's probably best with older, dog-smart kids. Simply put, Charles emobodies all of the loyal qualities of his breed. All he needs now is that special someone to make him a lifelong member of their family.

Adopting me will be a lifelong commitment, and my new family needs to be ready, willing and able to provide me not only with lots of love as an indoor member of the family, but also with ongoing training and socialization.

Please note that Pit Bull Rescue San Diego does not adopt on a first come first served basis. Generally we have formed an opinion about the sort of home that we want for each of the dogs in our program. This opinion is formed from knowing each dog and observing their interactions in various situations and through periodic evaluations. Our goal is to place our charges in the home that is the best possible for that particular dog. Our only goal is happiness and forever homes for our dogs. A forever home is most likely to happen when we do the best we can to find lifestyles and personalities that match.

We are aware that this is a human process and that you may or may not agree with our decisions. Please understand that we take very seriously the lives placed in our hands for this brief time and our decisions are only made out of protectiveness for the breed and the specific dogs we are placing and not out of any judgment of you or your life.
