Belle (aka Bella)

foster update 08/13/07:
She really likes chew bones but doesnt show too much interest in toys. She can sit, come and stay, she is very gentle with treats and food. She sleeps upside down on the couch with her head hanging off sometimes. She plays great with the neighborhood dogs and she is pretty submissive. She does better off the leash, she listens great when I call her, I do watch her because she likes to walk up to strangers so I make sure she doesnt scare anybody. She has never run up on someone in an aggressive manner.

I think she would be good for any family that will have patience with her until she feels comfortable with them. It took her about a full month before she was comfortable with us and my neighbors that she sees everyday. Maybe more of a calm family with older children that dont chase her around, although I dont think she would do badly in a family with smaller kids if they were experienced dog owners. And I think she would feel safer in a family that has another dog that she could play with. She seems calmer around other dogs.

Bella is extremely loveable. She loves to cuddle and is just sweet, sweet, sweet!!!!!! She is not hyper and doesnt need a lot of excitement, but she loves to get out and run at least once a day and then she is fine in the house.

foster update 02/22/07:
Belle is much more socialized than when I first got her. She is much more playful and outgoing. She can sit, and lay down. She comes when I whistle for her. She is just a sweetheart. Is timid at first with new men and will bark at them and her hair stands up but once she meets them she is fine. She believes that she is a lap dog. She is very eager to please, and loves being petted. She also loves tummy rubs. We've noticed that she can be timid at first. She is a bit of a pussy cat and would do well in a calmer home. Being touched everywhere is her joy in life.

She loves to run and play with my big pittie Joker. She has learned to stand up to my other foster male Dusty who is very pushy when he plays. She ADORES my older brindle male who is 12: she is very sweet and flirty with him. She just loves to run and play with all of them and has never become aggressive with any of them.

She is fine with my cats. She will sniff at them if they come around but never chases them. One of them actually rubs on her and she is fine with it.

Belle is just the sweetest little girl. She is small but still young. I dont see her growing into a very large dog.She is very smart and inquisitive. She is nervous at first around new people especially men but quickly warms up. She loves to run & play and fetch ball and sticks. She will always come when I whistle for her unless she is using the bathroom, then she will come when she is done. She never runs off and always comes when I call her. She LOVES treats and loves being rubbed and petted. She would happily lie on top of you all day long just to be near you.

foster update: She is a lap dog, loves petting, loves tummy rubs, but is timid at first. She enjoys fetch. She is submissive and can be handled on every part of her body.

She is very sweet ansd submissive. She like to run with the other dogs and paly but if they get to rough she is outta there! She loves my older dog who is almost 12: she is actually very flirty with him. She just likes to run and sometimes tumble with the 2 bigger boys. She is the only female in a house of 4 dogs so she is the princess!

We have the other dogs and 2 cats, a male & female. She is fine with the cats.

She is a little shy and when she knows it is time to go out to the pen when I leave for work she does not want to come. We just put the leash on her and she will come now.

Belle is a very sweet & timid gilr. She is getting more social with the other dogs though. She loves to run with them but does not like to rough house. She does not bite but will snap a little at the other dogs to let them know they are being to pushy: then she will run back to Mom (me)

Great with kids. She is a gentle cuddler so she should be great with any age.

She is timid so I think she would do best with other friendly dogs that are not too rough or bouncy. She LOVES her gallalio chew bone. Loves to chew on her kong tennis balls too.

Please note that Pit Bull Rescue San Diego does not adopt on a first come first served basis. Generally we have formed an opinion about the sort of home that we want for each of the dogs in our program. This opinon is formed from knowing each dog and observing their interactions in various situations and through periodic evaluations. Our goal is to place our charges in the home that is the best possible for that particular dog. Our only goal is happiness and forever homes for our dogs. A forever home is most likely to happen when we do the best we can to find lifestyles and personalities that match.

We are aware that this is a human process and that you may or may not agree with our decisions. Please understand that we take very seriously the lives placed in our hands for this brief time and our decisions are only made out of protectiveness for the breed and the specific dogs we are placing and not out of any judgment of you or your life.
