Bandit (aka Bandito, Cheeto, Frito)
foster update (08/14/07):
Bandit has mostly been around my 14 year old and his friends which range in age from 11-15. He has done well with all of them. He has also been exposed to my friends child who is 8 with no issues. Bandit is a very sweet loving dog. He can be timid of people if he does not know you or if you yell around him.
He loves balls that squeak and ropes. Pretty much anything!! Bandit loves to chase balls. Sometimes he likes to roughhouse with us but not too much. Sometimes he does get excited if we are playing and likes to give a little "love nip". Not hard but it can surprise you. He is getting better at controlling that.
Bandit is so funny. When he is excited he will jump in the air in a circle. He also smiles!! So cute.
He does soooo well with the other dogs. He is never aggressive but does stand up for himself when needed. I have 2 other fosters who sometimes gang up on him in play but he just rolls with the punches and lets them know by barking or growling at them that they have pushed him to far. He loves playing with the puppy (who is 6 months) and is very patient.
I have 2 cats and Bandit does not even pay attention to them. He actually gives them plenty of room and seems to respect them. I think he may have been put in place by a cat before.
He will wake me up in the morning by licking my toes. Any one that meets him will love him. He could fit in anywhere: we adore him!!!
foster update (03/19/07):
Just wanted to give you a little info on Bandit.
He is a great great dog!!
He has fit in very well into our pack. He loves to run and play with my other foster male Dusty the most.
Dusty is very pushy and likes to roughhouse and can be too much sometimes for my other dogs but Bandit just rolls with the punches. In fact he loves to roll all over the place in the dirt!!! We have bathed him twice already.
He will get irritated if Dusty takes it too far and he does stand up to him. Not in an overly aggressive way though.
He needs to work on his listening skills but he is already improving on that in the short time we have had him.
He loves playing with Belle (another PBRSD rescue) and they often just run run side by side in the big horse pen.
He is very afraid of sticks: obviously he has been hurt with one before. We are working on that: playing and chewing on the sticks instead of running and being frightened of it.
He is a great eater. Eats a cup in the morning and a cup at night mixed with canned food. He loves his cookie in the morning before going out to the kennel. He loves to play with toys and chew on them. Have had to redirect him a few times: he likes to steal items from the tables and counters and chew them up if we are not looking.
He has taken off once or twice with the other dogs into all the bushes after rabbits but he is always the first to come back. He is learning that we do NOT like him out past the gates off our property.

Please note that Pit Bull Rescue San Diego does not adopt on a first come first served basis. Generally we have formed an opinion about the sort of home that we want for each of the dogs in our program. This opinon is formed from knowing each dog and observing their interactions in various situations and through periodic evaluations. Our goal is to place our charges in the home that is the best possible for that particular dog. Our only goal is happiness and forever homes for our dogs. A forever home is most likely to happen when we do the best we can to find lifestyles and personalities that match.
We are aware that this is a human process and that you may or may not agree with our decisions. Please understand that we take very seriously the lives placed in our hands for this brief time and our decisions are only made out of protectiveness for the breed and the specific dogs we are placing and not out of any judgment of you or your life.
